HO WEST DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE HOLDS COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AT WUKPO

As part of bringing governance closer to the people and the need to improve the standard of living of the citizenry, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau and his team held a community engagement at Wukpo on Friday 7th April, 2023.

At the meeting were the District Cheif Executive, the Ghana Police Service, the National Investigation Bureau, the District Coordinating Director, the Assembly Member for the Electoral Area, staff of the Kalakpa Resource Reserve and some staff of the Assembly.

The engagement was to deliberate on the illegal operations of the Fulani Herdsmen in the Reserve, the destruction of crops of the settlers, the illegal timber lumbering and hunting in the reserve and attacks especially on women and children by the herdsmen.

The community requested assistance of the District Assembly to evict the Fulani Herdsmen from the Area. It was also revealed that some of the settlers are accepting the Herdsmen at the blind side of the land owners.

On thier development needs, the community raised the issue of accessibility to the community.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau advised the community to desist from felling trees for charcoal, lambering and hunting animals in order to protect the reserve and preserve the environment from destruction.
